BENZINA SPRINT AT JIZERSKA 50 LURES PARTICIPANTS WITH ALMOST 17 000 EUR IN PRIZE MONEY. PETTER NORTHUG WILL ALSO BE RACING

The Friday programme of the 53rd edition of the ČEZ Jizerská 50 race has a new feature. It is not a new race, but the already existing race now has a great new attraction. The traditional Friday sprint is now enticing new participants with awards of over CZK 100,000 for the winner.

As of 2020, the race is named Benzina Sprint and the fastest skiers will take home prizes of tens of thousands of crowns. “We have increased the prize money for the best sprinters. The first six women and men will receive a sum totalling almost 17 000 EUR,” says Pavel Kaidl, the spokesperson for Benzina, the new main partner of Jizerská 50.

Petter Northug, a former Norwegian national, a double Olympic champion and 13 times a world champion, will also be in the Sprinter race.

“We are pleased that thanks to the increase in rewards, we managed to win the legendary Petter Northug at Benzina Sprint. Czech fans will have a unique chance to see one of the greatest personalities in the ski world in action. His participation is the best invitation to Friday's Benzina Sprint, ”says Marcin Stefaniak, Benzina's Marketing Director.

The rewards for the winner of Benzin Sprint are the same for both men and women

1st place         100 000 CZK (approx. 3 850 EUR)

2nd place          50 000 CZK (approx. 1 920 EUR)

3rd place           30 000 CZK (approx. 1 150 EUR)

4th place           20 000 CZK (approx.     770 EUR)

5th place           15 000 CZK (approx.     575 EUR)

6th place           10 000 CZK (approx.     385 EUR)

The Benzina Sprint race takes place on Friday, 7th February 2020, i.e. on the first day of the 53rd edition of ČEZ Jizerská 50. The Czech Television Sports channel will broadcast the finals live. Registration for the race is open at www.sportid.cz. The registrations are online on the web until February 3.
