At the end of January and the beginning of February, there have been little snowfall and with temperatures have been mostly above freezing level. The organizers of the 57th ČEZ Jizerská 50 are in daily contact with the Czech National Weather Service, but they do not expect any significant cold spell or new snowfalls in the coming days.
The final format of the individual courses will depend on the amount of snow on individual parts of the traditional route. The organizers are now working mainly on keeping the snow on the path from the stadium in Bedřichov to the eastern part of the Jizera Mountains, where the snow conditions in the higher parts are still pretty good, and these sections should not be endangered even by the intermittently warmer weather in the days remaining until the ČEZ Jizerská 50 race. The main goal of these efforts is to have the course ready for the 57th edition of the race, such a course that the competitors will enjoy and remember. The race is still quite far off, so at the moment it is not yet possible to say exactly whether and what adjustments to the routes will be necessary.
Further information will be published by the organizers this Friday afternoon. At that time, it will be clearer what effect the temperatures above freezing have had on the snow conditions and the weather forecast for the next week will be clearer. The entire team of organizers is now working hard to ensure that despite the bad weather, we will all remember the upcoming event.
The online registration closed on Sunday and it is currently not possible to register for any of the 57th ČEZ Jizerská 50 races. There are still a few places available for the 17 km and 30 km freestyle races, the 10 km classic technique race and the children’s race. Next week, the organizers will announce on the official website and social networks of the event whether it will be possible to register for these races.
Cancellation of the entire event is a last resort that is not on the agenda at this moment. Should this happen, however, participants will be entitled to a refund of up to 70 % of the basic race fee as they are insured by PVZP. They would not lose most of the race fee.
