In cooperation with the Civil Society Development Foundation (NROS) and its charitable project Pomozte dětem (Help the Children), we can once again join forces this year and help where it is needed most. This time, we will support two families who battle a difficult fate every day. The raised funds will help thirteen-year-old Filda with the purchase of a mobile folding patient lift and a co-payment for an electric wheelchair. At the same time, we will support the Pokorný family during the demanding treatment of thirteen-year-old Eliška and four-year-old Kryštof, who suffer from severe cystic fibrosis. Filda: Mobile lift and electric wheelchair 

Filda is a smiling thirteen-year-old boy from Znojmo who is almost always in a positive mood. And that is exactly what everyone loves about him – he possesses admirable strength, facing his fate with a smile. He attends a mainstream primary school where he really enjoys English, loves fast cars, and is great at playing games on PC and PlayStation. He lives just like his peers as much as his health condition allows. In reality, however, Filda is battling severe and incurable Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

This is a disease in which all muscles in the body gradually weaken. It has been about three years since Filda stopped walking and had to move to a wheelchair. And as the disease progresses and Filda grows, it brings ever-increasing physical and financial demands.

Since Filda now weighs around 50 kilograms, it is becoming impossible for his mother to physically transfer him from bed to wheelchair, toilet, or bathroom without special equipment. It is essential for the family to purchase a mobile folding patient lift that can be easily transported. Additionally, in the summer, Filda faces the purchase of a new electric wheelchair, which insurance will only partially cover. Expenses are constantly mounting, and his mother, who currently works part-time, knows that as the disease progresses, she will soon have to stay at home with Filda full-time. But she would do anything in the world for her son.

We would like to make this difficult situation easier for Filda and his mother, and for that, we need your help too. The raised funds will help cover the purchase of a mobile lift for all daily transfers as well as the co-payment for the new electric wheelchair, which will give Filda a greater degree of independence and freedom of movement.

Eliška and Kryštof: The fight against cystic fibrosis 

The Pokorný family is raising five children. Two of them, Eliška and Kryštof, have cystic fibrosis.

Eliška is thirteen years old, Kryštof is four. Both have cystic fibrosis, a serious congenital disease in which thick mucus forms in the body, primarily damaging the lungs and digestive system. Moreover, they have a type of mutation that cannot yet be treated with modern modulator therapy, making them reliant on demanding daily symptomatic care – inhalations, respiratory physiotherapy, medications, regular check-ups, and sometimes hospitalizations. All of this affects the entire family's life.

The father works; the mother is just finishing her parental leave and trying to find a job. However, in their situation, it is not easy. She needs a job that brings the family an additional income while allowing her to stay home whenever Eliška or Kryštof gets sick or their health requires more care. The family is thus entering a period where they must balance the daily treatment of two children, care for a total of five siblings, and the uncertainty associated with the mother's return to work. Add to this the expenses related to treatment. Co-payments for medications and other necessities for patients with cystic fibrosis amount to tens of thousands of crowns per year.

Additionally, the Pokorný family lives in a smaller house in poorer technical condition. Certain modifications would help create a more suitable environment for Eliška and Kryštof, for whom strict hygiene regimens are crucial due to their illness. Support from this year's ČEZ Jizerská 50 will help the whole family specifically in this transitional period – it will cover part of the costs associated with treatment, essential home modifications, and give the mother more time to find a job that can be balanced with childcare. Together, we will help Eliška, Kryštof, and their parents manage the costs associated with treatment and daily care.

We often wonder whether a small amount makes any difference at all. The answer is: Yes, a huge one! When thousands of racers and fans unite, even a seemingly small gift turns into a force that helps pay for expensive rehabilitations, purchase special assistive devices, or provide care that brings hope and smiles back into families' lives.

We deeply appreciate that sportsmanship, fairness, and thoughtfulness extend to helping those who don't have it easy in life. Over the last 6 years alone, we have raised almost 1.5 million CZK, mainly for disadvantaged children.
