A Traffic Accident Has Left David Paralysed. Can We Pull Together to Help Him?

A loving family man, David Bláha was once an active young man who spent his free time playing sports, riding his bike, and spending time in the countryside and on his travels. Sadly, in September 2018, he was involved in a fateful road accident while on his way to work. As he swerved to avoid a deer, his car was unfortunately sent into a skid and flew into the side bank. From that moment, his life changed.

Paralysed as a result of the accident, David is now a quadriplegic who needs a wheelchair for everyday life and activities. He regularly takes part in rehabilitation sessions in Semily.

David has a five-year-old child who requires plenty of exercise and activity. He would like to be able to fully devote himself to his child and to live a full life once again. For improved wheelchair mobility and, above all, greater independence, David would be helped by two components - WheelDrive and FreeWheel.

  “Moving around outdoors is difficult, because there isn’t enough strength in my arms yet. That’s why I would like to buy additional WheelDrive wheels, so that I can enjoy a new feeling of independence and freedom without limited mobility. That way, I would like to develop my potential without worrying about loss of mobility,” says David, explaining how WheelDrive wheels would help him.

David is full of enthusiasm for life. He accepts things the way they are and does not lack the patience and effort to gradually become independent again. That is precisely why he needs WheelDrive. So that he does not have to be entirely dependent on the help of his wife, and can save her a little energy. With time, he would also like to buy a handcycle, so that he can become an active cyclist again. “Before the accident, I was very active. I would spend free time with my family, and I liked to go out on bike rides or to go skating. We travelled a lot on trips and hikes, and I had a constant positive relationship with nature and animals,” David describes.
