Fluor Testing at Jizerská 50: Important Information!

During the 58th ČEZ Jizerská 50, the best racers on each course will be tested, as well as randomly selected participants from all finishers. Additionally, before each start, you will have the opportunity to have your skis checked to ensure everything is in order and enjoy the race without stress. There is no penalty for this pre-race check-in fact, it can help you avoid any issues after finishing!

Get Your Skis Checked for Free Before the Race

Do you want to enjoy the race without unnecessary stress? From Thursday to Sunday, you can have your skis tested for fluorine before the start of each race. If a positive result is detected, don't worry—there are no penalties, but the fluorine must be removed from your skis. The ski inspection will be handled by professionals from the Czech Ski Association.

Tentative Schedule for Voluntary Ski Checks:

Thursday: 10:00 – 14:00
Friday: 12:00 – 18:00
Saturday: 7:30 – 9:30 | 10:30 – 14:00
Sunday: 7:30 – 9:30

Top Racers in Each Category Will Be Tested

After every race, the top 3 men and women in each category will undergo testing. Additionally, other finishers will be randomly selected for testing. Elite racers competing in the 50 km race will be tested directly by Ski Classics on Sunday. The ban on fluorinated wax applies to all races!

If fluorine is detected during testing, the racer will be disqualified.

Why Do We Need to Test Skis?

In 2023, new FIS rules came into effect, banning all waxes containing fluorine. For us at the 58th ČEZ Jizerská 50 team, the environment and the health of participants are top priorities, so we take this new ban very seriously. Fluorinated waxes can form so-called "forever chemicals" in nature, which are toxic and never break down naturally. They may also have carcinogenic effects. As a result, these waxes are banned for all participants at the Jizerská 50. We have been working to inform participants about this new ban for a long time.
