The story of the winner Nygaard: Jizerka has become the most beautiful race I have ever experienced

You would probably assume, that Andreas Nygaard adores Jizerska 50, because of the fact, that he won the race. It is not the only reason though. Andreas admits, that it is the most wonderful race experience mainly because of its location, which is simply overwhelming.

It is a great compliment from a native Norwegian, who has spent his life in a variety of cross country ski trails surrounded by beautiful nature all around the world. He must have seen thousands of natural trails, yet this race in Jizera mountains enchanted him the most.

Few minutes after the end of 53rd CEZ Jizerska 50, there are many racers on Bedrichov sport stadion. The fastest ones are in the background and sharing smiles. One of the biggest has Andreas Nygaard, a new champion. “It was one of the most beautiful days of my career. Seriously.”

Race day had perfect weather. “I came to the Czech Republic a few days before and the weather didn't look nice. There was fog till Sunday morning. But after that sunny weather came over.” said Nygaard. “I didn't know, how beautiful Jizera mountains can be when they are flooded in sun and fresh snow. One of the most beautiful cross-country skiing places.” said amazed Nygaard, who is a double winner of the Jizerska 50.

Andreas Nygaard will be back in February 2021 In the Czech republic. Not just because CEZ Jizerska 50 was elected to TOP 4 races of Visma Ski Classics series and become a “Grand Classics”. Andreas also admires location in the Jizera mountains.
