The Jizerská 50 Is Helping the Cause of Little Tereza. Racers Have Raised Money in Record Time.

Though the 53rd ČEZ Jizerská 50 does not start until February, one of its goals has already been achieved thanks to you, the competitors. The target sum of a fund-raising campaign that will help make a big improvement in 8-year-old Tereza’s health has been raised in record time.

In early September, we published the story of Tereza, who is facing a number of health complications due to being born prematurely. Her condition could be rapidly improved with the help of a WalkAide neurostimulator, which Tereza has already tried in the past. The health aid, however, proved very costly for Tereza’s family, who are unable to afford the device without help.

Her story aroused a great wave of solidarity and effort to help the young girl. The target sum, which is enough to buy the device, was raised in only a month. Upon hearing the wonderful news, Tereza’s mother did not hide her astonishment and immense gratitude: 

'At first I didn’t believe that it was possible to start a fund-raising campaign for our cause. After the campaign was launched, I hoped that at least half of the purchase price could be raised within the allotted time,' began Tereza’s mother.

She was so surprised at how quickly the sum of CZK 127,000 was raised that she could not hold back tears. 'When I found out that the amount had been raised in full, and that it had been done in a record time that even the organisers of the campaign didn't anticipate, I couldn't believe it. I was overcome with an enormous sense of gratitude towards everyone who had donated to the collection. For a moment, I just sat down and stared into space with my hands clasped together saying “thank you, thank you, thank you” over and over again. I was so moved that the tears just kept filling my eyes,' she described. 

She shared the happy news with Tereza, who will finally receive a WalkAide neurostimulator. A cheque for the amount of the device will be presented to the family in person at the Jizerská 50. 'I shared the news with Tereza at the first opportunity. Her face lit up, she hugged me tightly and said: “Really? Mum, that’s great!”' 

Tereza’s mother has a message for everyone who has helped the cause:

I would like to thank everyone who has donated to this collection from the bottom of my heart. I am incredibly grateful for your help and I bless you and your families. You have helped me to fulfil another one of my goals as a mother. Thanks to you, we have been able to reach the symbolic finish line of the next stage towards a healthy life for a child of Tereza’s age. Believe me, whenever I will tell Tereza about the time when she was little, how she was hard-working and strong, and how she became able to lead a healthy life, you will always have a place in the story.
