Jizerska 50 as graffiti. Liberec city hall has uniquely decorated entrance gate.

Real unique can be seen by Liberec citizens at the entrance of the Liberec city hall. Since last week, the entrance of the city hall is painted in the motive of Jizerska 50.

The famous cross-country skiing race is the biggest sport event in Czech Republic. The representatives of the Liberec city are aware of that, so they agreed with idea of decorating the entrance to remember Jizerska 50 itself. “Jizerska 50 is the phenomenon, which we are proud of. We are happy that we can present this event all year and not only in the winter months.” explained the purpose governor Martin Půta.

That Jizerska 50 is the event of the whole year, confirms the fact that the registration for the next year starts almost immediately after the finish of the current one. The summer version of Jizerska 50 has attracted this year almost 2500 participants, as well. “It was also the reason, why we were contemplating how to remember the event during the whole year. It is great that it was possible to realize the idea of graffiti, which is really cool. I have heard only positive reactions, so far.” added the governor of Liberec.

It was a first public project for the studio Malujeme jinak, which was responsible for the painting. They took their job responsibly, and the graffiti was finished in three days. At the entrance, you can see the painting at both sides. The left side shows the history of the race with a historical logo and the right side shows a modern appearance with a  new logo. “ The fact that the painting at the entrance is at the both sides is unique for us. We really enjoyed it and we are happy that everyone is satisfied with the result.” said Lukáš Veselý, who was responsible for graphic designers.

“It also shows, what a big event with a rich history Jizerska 50 is. It has started in 1968, then joined the memory of the expedition in Peru 1970. This is also the thing, which should not be forgotten. I am glad that organizers still remember about the expedition.” added Půta, the active participant of the event. “I attend 10km race every year. Organizers expanded the event with shorter races, what is perfect for me, and I believe that also for many other beginners. I can Jizerska just recommend.” said governor.
