200 000th racer in the history of Jizerska 50: „I am glad that we didn´t forget about an expedition in Peru.”

There is no race in Czech republic, which could show off with a 200 000^th racer. Jizerska 50 has managed to do so, and the lucky one is Vojta Motl. “I know that we were waiting for the jubilant, but I would have never thought that it could be me. I had never won anything in my entire life.”, said the surprised racer, who already has one start in Jizerska 50 on his account, with a smile on his face.

And it is going to be your second one this year. Are you looking forward? “A lot. Even more after such an experience. I completely didn´t expect that it could be me. That is another reason, why this race will be special for me.”

This will be your 2^nd race of Jizerska 50. What did motivate you to participate in the first one? “My friends. They joined the Marcialong. I didn´t want to feel ashamed, but my goals were not so high, so I had chosen Jizerska 50, which was in my power and not so far away.”

What about you and the skis? “I do cross-country skiing since my childhood. That is also the reason, why I was contemplating Jizerska 50 in the past, too. Unfortunately, timing was never right and then, when the kids came it was not easy to manage. Only this year, it finally worked out, and I had the chance to try Jizerska 50 on my own skin.”

How was it? “It was a beautiful race. Everything, except my performance was great. I hadn´t had enough training before, so I suffered a little bit during the race and the time was not very publishable.”

Is the preparation going to be more precise now? “It is complicated. I have two kids and we live in Blansko, where the snow is about 4 hours during the year, but I will try to. My friend has showed me the roller skis, which really attracted my attention. Probably, I will get them and start to practise.”

How did it go on the roller skis for you? “Well, I had never skate before, so from the beginning, it was quite difficult for me. But a man can get used to it, and then start to like it. It will definitely help my preparation more than just running on my feet.”

Are you going to become a regular participant? “I don´t know, if I appear on the start every year, but I would like to make a tradition out of it. I like longer races, so the 50ties also belong to my favourite distances.”

You said, you had two kids. How is the family and cross-country skiing? “My wife used to ski a lot, but now there is not a lot of time with the kids. Generally, we have less time, but if it is possible, we ski or climb on the rocks.”

Is Jizerska 50 important to you also thanks to the participants of the Peru expedition 1970, who were mountain climbers? “For sure, thanks to this memory it is closer to me. I know the history and I really respect it. It is nice that still, even after 50 years, we ski for their honour and their memory.”
