The Tereza Kálalová Story: The Jizera 50 is always an unrepeatable experience!

Tereza Kálalová, a sportswoman in body and soul first stood at the starting line of the Jizera 50 at the age of 16. She has in all eleven times surmounted the 25 km track and two times the 50 km track. And when she takes a respite from her son during maternity leave, she will still take to the track many times!

If she were to describe what the race means to her, she has everything clear! “It is an unrepeatable experience, full of pleasant and unpleasant experiences, which in the end always transform into the positive aspects,” she says. And it is actually the positive aspect that is the driving force for the so many starts, which Tereza has accomplished.

In childhood, she used to go to the cottage in the Jizera Mountains with her parents, and it is thus no surprise that to date the Jizera Mountains are a matter close to her heart. Her father always participated in the race, and she went in his footsteps.

Tereza does not target specific time because the snow conditions are completely different every year. She prefers to compare herself with the competitors, who she is aware of in the time that she is participating in the Jizera 50. In spite of this, her time of 2:47:51 ranks her among the top 30 in the category and she even accomplished the 25 km track in 1:26:05 and was several times in the top 10.

“The race itself is always a big experience for me. I get experiences from it, which I like to recall during the year. Negative things also sometimes happen on the track, but a person quickly learns something from them and does not repeat them next time. Every such little thing prepares you for the next start and mainly motivates you to participate in the next start.”

Tereza will soon do it again.
