Bohuslav's life turned upside down when he was 17. Due to a motorcycle accident, he lost his left leg. "The beginning was really hard, but I've managed mainly thanks to sports", says Bohuslav. Skiing became the first sport in which Bohuslav would go on to represent the Czech Republic. He became the champion of our country four times, taking part in world cups and world championships.
"Thanks to skiing, I also met my wife, a paraplegic discus and javelin thrower. It was she who first attracted me to athletics and soon I was successful there too", recalls Bohuslav.
Volleyball, floorball, and basketball are other sports Bohuslav has competed in. Currently, he mostly focuses on the last two. "This August, I have fulfilled one of my dreams which was taking part in the Handy Cycle Marathon. My other dream is a triathlon and my goal is to complete the whole triathlon by myself", said Bohuslav.
Bohuslav‘s current wheelchair is old. It has been enough so far but sadly it’s now starting to cause him sores, so he needs to buy a new active wheelchair which he will be able to use for training. Unfortunately, the price is really high. A new one costs CZK 154,641 and his insurance company will not contribute.
Help Bohuslav to collect the money. You can contribute through your SportID account when registering for the Jizerská 50. You can donate from CZK 50 to 500 even if you are already registered for the race. Just select a charity item in your racing profile additional services.
You can also send the contribution directly to through the web of the The Olga Havel Foundation or to account number 478 437 033/0300. Thank you for helping!
