The famous Jizerská 50 race has its own unofficial anthem performed by Tata Bojs band; they made a remake of their greatest hit Pěšáci. The song which was awarded with the Anděl prize ("Czech Grammy") as the musical composition of the year ten years ago has a brand new topic which can be surprising for many fans. It is about our greatest and largest cross-country ski race Jizerská 50 and mainly about Ladislav Míka. This 76-year old cross-country skier is the only racer who was at the start each of the 50 years of the race so far.
"We love Jizerská 50. Several years ago, we had a concert in Liberec as a part of the racing weekend and I remember the great atmosphere. We found the idea of providing the song Pěšáci with a new, winter theme attractive and we are looking forward to playing the new version of the song live. It is actually the third video we shot for this song since its release in 2007," Milan Cais, the band frontman, explained.
In this current video, shots from the actual races are combined with cross-country skiing "exhibition" of the boys from the band. Ladislav Míka, the white-track hero, was starring in the video; he did not miss a single year of Jizerská 50. Pavel Čapek, who actually moderates the races from Bedřichov for the Czech Television, took the role of a commentator.
Play the videoclip and don't forget to turn on subtitles.
