The ČEZ Jizerská 50 will take place next weekend! Taking advantage of the freezing weather and production of artificial snow, the organizers are sure to prepare a four to six kilometres long alternative course (depending on weather development) that will be the scene for all weekend races.
Snow-making equipment is in full play at Bedřichov these days, and simultaneously, artificial snow is continuously delivered along the entire track. The circuit measuring at least four kilometres will be ready by the next weekend. In case of a favourable weather, the circuit may be made longer. Nevertheless, weather forecasts give little hope that the necessary amount of natural snow would eventually fall at Bedřichov – in such an event, the programme could be changed again.
How will the respective weekend races be run?
The entrants will cover four laps starting in starting groups amounting to 400 racers at the most. Each group will have its exact start time and the track reserved for two hours. The competitors will choose their start time using a special reservation system that will be launched no later than Monday morning. Four of the groups will go in for their races on Sunday while another two groups on Friaday and three groups, on Saturday. The participants starting after 3 p.m. must be equipped with headlamps.
The elite wave race, which is part of the VISMA Ski Classics series, will take 15 laps measuring around 50 kilometres, and will be flagged off according to schedule on Sunday at 8.30 a.m. The entrants included in the 1st starting wave will start off at 11.30 a.m. as a group # 6; these competitors do not have to make a reservation.
This race will take place as planned on Saturday, and the participants are divided into starting waves with the first wave starting off at 8.00 a.m. (an hour earlier!) and the second one, at 9.30 a.m. The track is reserved for one and a half hours for the two waves. The racers will cover three laps.
This two-lap race will be started off on Saturday at 11 a.m. The course will be reserved for one and a half hours.
The race will follow the original schedule, which means the start on Friday at 1.00 p.m., but it will be run on three laps in classical style. The original division into the starting waves applies with the waves following in quick succession.
This race will be run without any alterations.
