The ČS0B Pojišťovna Jizerská 50, which will take place from 11 to 13 January 2013 in Bedřichov in the Jizera Mountains, can boast a full starting list down t the last place for the third consecutive year. The organisers finished online registration on Thursday morning; the last remaining numbers are available for purchase in the Intersport chain.
The main 50 kilometre classic-style race has capacity for 4,800 starting places; it is not possible to have more racers in the Jizera Mountains on Sunday, 13 January 2013, due to an agreement with the environmental protection authorities. For the other weekend races – the ČEZ Bedřichov 30 freestyle event on Friday and the classic-style Jizerská 25 on Saturday – starting numbers are still available online and again at Intersport shops with a 20% discount.
“I am pleased that we sold out for the third year in a row, as that confirms the strong interest in cross-country skiing and in the Jizerská 50 itself,” says Marek Tesař of Mather Activation, the race’s marketing partner. “Even though we did not increase the capacity of the races for 2013, the upcoming event will be record-breaking. More than 4,500 Czechs are registered in all races, and nearly 10% of them will participate in the ČSOB Pojišťovna Jizerská 50 for the very first time.”
The starting list currently contains racers of 29 different nationalities, including from Japan, the United States and Canada. Besides the Czech Republic, Germany and the Scandinavian countries are traditionally strongly represented in the event.
