Only One Fifth of the Numbers Remain Available for ČEZ Jizerská 50

Do you wish to be present when the legendary ČEZ Jizerská 50 race starts one and a half month from now? You should hurry. With the coming of winter to Czechia, a lot of the starting numbers have been quickly taken and only one fifth of the numbers are currently available. Therefore, the answer to the traditional question when the race will be sold out seems to be right around the corner. Consequently, preparations are also fully under way – production of snow on the ski stadium in Bedřichov started this weekend.

The 49th annual edition of ČEZ Jizerská 50 will take place in Bedřichov on 8 – 10 January 2016 and will offer a broad range of races – from the royal fifty-kilometre race in classic style to a new ten-kilometre race for families with children and for the less proficient or less daring cross-country skiers. There will also be children’s races and a relay race for 4x3 kilometres.

“Traditionally, the 50-kilometre race in classic style is in the highest demand,” explains Martin Koucký, the Chairman of the Jizerská Fifty Ski Club. “In recent years, we always succeeded in selling out the race in advance and we do not have any different expectations for this year. During the weekend alone, we received more than 60 entries.”

Registration for Jizerská 50 traditionally comes in several waves – always at the end of the registration entry fee discount period and then with the first snow. The first snow has appeared in the Czech mountains during the weekend and the weather forecast promises a freezing weather as well as another snowfall. “Sufficient amount of snow for Jizerská 50 is not the only thing important to us. The sooner snow is all over Czechia, the more time the racers will have to prepare for the race,” explains Martin Koucký.

However, the organisers of ČEZ Jizerská 50 do not rely solely on natural snow – as soon as the weekend conditions allowed it, production of technical snow on the stadium in Bedřichov where all the operational resources of the race are situated started at full capacity. Just for the sake of comparison – the technology was started 16 days sooner than last year.

There are two ways how to register for any of the races taking place during the weekend of ČEZ Jizerská 50: either online on the website at http://www.jiz50.cz or in the retail stores of the Hervis chain throughout the Czech Republic with a discount of 10 %. The last chance to register is available on site on the day preceding the race – however, in that case, the registration entry fee is significantly higher.
