Jizerská 50 has a new race: 10 km CT race for families and first-timers

The forthcoming ČEZ Jizerská 50 that will take place in Bedřichov in Jizera Mountains on 8 – 10 January 2016 will feature a new race. The organisers will include a classic-technique ten-kilometre race in the Saturday morning schedule. This race is designed for individuals as well as for families with children and it is an opportunity to personally experience the atmosphere of the legendary race.

Jizerská 10 will be a part of the Saturday morning schedule and will start at 9:15, that is, a quarter of an hour after Jizerská 25. It will offer the participants the route of the legendary Jizerská 50 as well as new places that are not covered by any of the routes of the existing races. A complete range of services will be available, including refreshment on the race track and at the finish line, a lubricating service, souvenir medals, a complete starting package, a changing room, a depository for personal belongings and accident insurance from the VZP insurance company. Individual winners and winning family teams will be announced.

“We are preparing the ten-kilometre race for those who wish to taste the atmosphere of a big race but are afraid that 25 or 50 kilometres would be too much for them. It is also an opportunity for the family members or friends of the racers to set out for Jizerská 50, too, and to experience it in a different manner than just in front of a TV screen,” explains Martin Koucký, the secretary of the Jizerská padesátka Ski Club. “We also believe that a successfully completed ten-kilometre race will motivate the participants to train and try out some of the longer races in the following years.”

For registration before 31 December 2015, the starting fee for an individual for Jizerská 10 will be 450 CZK; a special-price package for teams of up to four members that consist of one or two adults and of up to three children will cost 850 CZK. Registration is possible at www.jiz50.cz; the capacity is 500 participants.
