The organisers of the ČEZ Jizerská 50, which will take place in Bedřichov in the Jizera Mountains on 9-11 January 2015, are not relying solely on nature, as snow cannons began operating at full capacity as soon as the freezing weather allowed on Monday evening. The weather forecast promises temperatures below zero and intermittent snow in the coming days.
“In comparison with previous years, we have significantly increased our snowmaking capacity and we have been producing snow at full bore since Monday evening. We will use the snow that we are making in Bedřichov at the stadium as well as on the initial kilometres of the Jizera arterial route in the direction toward Buk and Nová Louka,” explains Martin Koucký of the Jizerská 50 organising committee. The snowmaking operation is being carried out in cooperation with Jizerská o.p.s. and the municipality of Bedřichov.
Not only the participants in the ČEZ Jizerská 50 will benefit from the production of artificial snow, which annually improves the conditions for preparation of the stadium and the adjoining trails for all cross-country skiing enthusiasts who choose Bedřichov as their starting point on the Jizera arterial route.
