The Jizerská 50 organisers have agreed on the rules of organisation of all races of the upcoming weekend with the Regional Hygiene Station. Then, on Wednesday, 9 February the Czech Government announced the cancellation of the obligation to show a valid covid-19 vaccination certificate or previous infection at sporting and other events. This means that even unvaccinated skiers can take part in races. On-site registration and issue of race bibs will open on Thursday 10 February at 09.00 in the Nisa shopping centre in Liberec.
The starts of individual races will be similar to those in 2020. That is, in waves of a maximum of 1,000 people. The time intervals between each wave will be at least 10 minutes. Specific information about the time and organisation of the start will be sent to the registered competitors at the beginning of next week. Epidemic guidelines will continue, such as wearing face mask in the start and finish areas wherever adequate distance cannot be maintained and in all indoor spaces. This obligation does not apply to competitors during the race.
"I am glad that the organisers of Jizerská 50 have and the Regional Hygiene Station in the Liberec Region have agreed on the rules of this important sporting event and people who regularly do sport will once again enjoy the legendary atmosphere of the race. This agreement was also confirmed at a meeting of the working group of the Ministry of Health. I see this as a good signal for the entire spors scene. This change will be followed by further loosening of covid restrictions, which will culminate in a full relaxation on 1 March if everything is approved by the government," says Filip Neusser, Chairman of the National Sports Agency.
Another great news for the 55th ČEZ Jizerská 50 is the announcement of the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, made on 2nd February 2022. It provided the organisers of the 55th ČEZ Jizerská 50 and all the amateur skiers who were worried to plan their participation in the race because they haven’t been vaccinated or haven’t had the infection, with a reason to celebrate. Although this week's statement makes it clear - the government is abolishing the obligation to show a certificate of vaccination or previous covid-19 infection to use services, enter restaurants and attend cultural, sporting and other events as of 9th February. The official full text of the government measure and confirmation of the new conditions can be expected by Wednesday 9 February. It may add further conditions for participation in sporting events. Therefore, competitors, fans and organisers will unfortunately have to wait a few more days. The organisers will inform participants of the effect of the full version of the conditions on the 55th edition of ČEZ Jizerská 50 without delay.
Petr Lešek from the organising agency Raul adds: "Following Wednesday's announcement, we immediately contacted the director of the Regional Hygiene Station in Liberec, Mrs. Jana Loosová, with whom we are in contact regarding the covid epidemic solutions, and the chairman of the National Sports Agency, Mr. Filip Neusser, who is negotiating measures for the Jizerská 50 with the Czech Ministry of Health. Now we are just waiting for the official confirmation of the loosening of the epidemic measures. However, we are really excited that we will be able to welcome all enthusiastic athletes and cross-country skiing lovers at the start of such an important race. It goes without saying that all the safety and hygiene rules under which Jizerská 50 can take place must be complied with."
The 55th edition of ČEZ Jizerská 50 will start on Friday 11th February and those interested in the races can also register on site (in OC Nisa Liberec) depending on the remaining available places for each race. Registrations will be open from Thursday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. A detailed list of available spaces for individual races can be found HERE. At the same time, the organisers ask competitors to come to the registration and pick up their race package in person. In justified cases, it will be possible to let another person pick up the race bib if they carry a letter of attorney.
Due to the above-mentioned government resolution, the organisers have decided to preserve the same race fees for on-site registration as were in effect for online registration until January 30.
